There will be an Introduction To Rapier Combat session with Lord Radbod of Endeweard and Hrafn Is Augu at Apple Blossom Acres on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm. Those attending will learn more about the Arte of Defence in the Society for Creative Anachronism and about the weapons being used. There will be an opportunity to handle rapier weapons during the “petting zoo” portions of this session. Dress is everyday street casual wear – no garb is required. Canton of Wyndriche Sunday, September 20, 2015 1:00 – 3:00 pm Description The Unity College Medieval Reenactment Club in cooperation with the Canton of Wyndriche will be holding an adult combat practice from 1:00-3:00 pm outside on the grounds near the Unity College Activites & Gymnasium building. Announcement The Canton of Wyndriche is holding a medieval garb workshop on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts (42 Depot St, Unity, Maine 04988). Description This class will focus on making a fitted dress with a laced front, popularly known as a cotehardie. We will be focused on drafting, fitting, and construction technique for a long sleeved, laced front, full length gown and we will be using some of the methods outlined by Tasha Kelly of Le Cotte Simple. Some methods used may not reproduce medieval tailoring techniques but will yield a gown that looks period while flattering and supporting the modern figure. All skill levels are welcome and can learn in this class, and the goal is to have everyone leave with a paper pattern and a fabric mock up that you can use at home to complete your finished dress. The Canton of Wyndriche will be hosting a medieval dance practice on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot St, Unity, Maine 04988. The class will be taught by Lady Sara of Stonelay and Lord Thomas de Winterwade and will meet right after the waltz class starting at 8:30 pm. This practice is open to the general public. You may wear medieval garb if you like or everyday street clothes are appropriate as well. Questions can be directed to the facebook event Medieval Dance Class.
All combat practices that are usually scheduled for Sundays from 4:00-7:00 pm at Bangor Housing Authority gym on Davis Road in Bangor, Maine are cancelled for Sunday, September 13, 2015. This includes Adult Heavy List, Adult Rapier Combat, Youth Combat and Youth Fencing. These practices will be running as usual next Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 4-7 pm. The Canton of Wyndriche in cooperation with the Unity College Medieval Reenactment Club are holding their first combat practice for the fall semester. This practice offers Adult Heavy List Combat as well as Adult Rapier Combat. Loaner gear and free instruction is available. The college club welcomes those interested in medieval reenactment combat to join them near the Unity College gymnasium and activities building. The Barony of Endewearde and the Friends of Fort Knox welcome all to the Fort Knox Historic Site in Prospect, Maine on Saturday, Septermber 12, 2015 for a medieval tournament day. Demonstrations of armored fighting, rapier combat, medieval dance and feasting, thrown weapons, and displays of artisan’s works will be held in and around the fort.
