There will be a first run fencing practice and arts demo at Unity College on Friday, Sept. 14th, from 4-6. Also Friday thrown weapons practice in China is rescheduled to start at noon.
The practice time for July 20th is moved forward to 11 AM due to prep time needed for the Belfast Celtic Festival. Practices for Fri. July, 27th, Tues. July 31st, Fri. Aug. 3rd, Tue. Aug. 7th, and Fri. Aug. 10th are cancelled due to the Pennsic War. Expect practices to resume Tuesday, August 14th.
Thrown weapons practices happen weekly at Syr Cedric’s on Tuesdays at 5:30 and Friday’s at 3:30. The Shire of Hadchester invites you to join us in celebrating the Yule season with a potluck meal, dancing, music and festivities. Dancing will be led by Lord Thomas de Winterwade & Lady Sara Stonley, a Medieval Games will be available for the naturally competitive and Lady Freygerthr of Visby. Lord Foner will be roasting poultry and mammals and coordinating a potluck where every person / family / couple can (but NOT must) bring a dish to share. We encourage all those with musical ability to display their talents to do or just sit and visit. Be sure to bring your Feast Gear as there are no dishes/cups/flatware on site. The event will be held at the Lincolnville Community Center in Lincolnville Center, Maine. There will be a thrown weapons practice in the Canton of Wyndriche at the home of Syr Cedric of Thanet in China, Maine on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Practice starts at 2:00 PM and runs through the afternoon. Please dress appropriately for an outdoor practice and bring what comforts you may need such as a folding chair, water, etc. Additional thrown weapons practices may be added to the Barony of Endewearde calendar on Sunday afternoons in November 2017 but will be dependent on weather conditions.

Hike starts at 10 AM and ends at 2 PM You are invited to dress in comfortable SCA garb and hike the Ampetheater carriage road in Acadia National Park. It is on the way to Northeast Harbor with easier parking, two spectacular bridges and stunning views. For those coming onto the island from the mainland bear right at the head of the island onto Route 202 as if you were headed to Southwest Harbor. When you get to the light in Somesville take a left onto Route 198. Follow that down towards Northeast Harbor. Just after you pass Upper Hadlock Pond on your left (it’s the only visible pond) the lower parking lot will be on the left. If you pass the gatehouse you will have gone too far. The Ampitheater Loop is the one outlined in light green on this map provided by Bangor Daily News.

Medieval novice and experienced artisans meet on Sundays at the Bangor Housing Authority, 161 Davis Road in Bangor, Maine from 4:00-7:00 PM. Whether you are interested in learning about the wide variety of projects appropriate for the Middle Ages or are an experienced artisan, please feel free to join those gathering at the kitchen table just off the main gym floor or outside in fair weather. Sunday, July 2: There will be a heavy list and rapier combat practice at the Bangor Housing Authority, 161 Davis Rd in Bangor, Maine as usual from 4:00-7:00 PM. Please note that Heavy List loaner gear will not be available; rapier combat loaner gear will be available as usual. Would you like to learn how to sew your first SCA tunic? There will be a workshop for those who are new to sewing or who would like assistance in making clothing appropriate for the SCA (roughly covering the time period 600-1600). The workshop runs from 11 AM – 4 PM and will be held at the Bryant E. Moore Community & Conference Center, 5 General Moore Way, Ellsworth, Maine 04605 If you are using GPS for directional help please enter State Street in Ellsworth. You can learn more about this workshop by viewing the workshop announcement on the Canton of Basingestoches website and by following discussions on the Garb Workshop facebook event page. Plan to bring prewashed material, thread, and clothing that makes it easy to try on your new garment for fittings and adjustments. There will be folks available who will help turn you turn that flat fabric into a new fitted garment! Plan to bring your own lunch or snacks. This workshop is free and is open to anyone who wants to learn how to make SCA garb.
